| The American Journal of Islamic Finance (www.AJIF.org - AJIF) was founded in 1989 as an advisory outreach to Muslims interested in the field of Islamic finance. In subsequent years, AJIF became a significant resource to Muslims and non-Muslims alike seeking to under stand how the Sharia'a governs financial matters as well as to professionals in the field of Islamic banking and finance.
AJIF's founder and operator is
Abdulkader Thomas. With more than 20 years of experience in banking and securities, Abdulkader is currently a principal in Strategic Guidance, LLC and Presi-dent & CEO of SAMAD American Holding Corp. Both are entities working to expand the reach of Islamic finance in the regulated US and OECD markets. Abdulkader was previously CEO of the United Bank of Kuwait's Islamic Investment Banking Unit and before that that bank's New York Branch General Manager. At the United Bank of Kuwait, Abdulkader supervised the first regula-tory approvals of Islamic banking products. Prior experience included heading the real estate and project finance group of the Sumitomo Bank, Ltd. - Los Angeles Branch and six years in Bahrain as a banker.
